Short Biography
He was born in 1963 in Ankara. He completed his primary and secondary education at Ankara Atatürk Anatolian High School and began his medical studies at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1981. He graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1987. The same year, he started his specialty training in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Gazi University Faculty of Medicine and became a specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1992.
Between 1993 and 1996, he completed his mandatory service at Samsun Maternity Hospital. In 1996, he joined the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Gazi University as a Specialist Doctor. In 1998, he began working in in-vitro fertilization (IVF) and was part of the team that established the Gazi IVF Center. He received the title of Associate Professor in 2003 and Professor in 2009.
Since 1998, he has been actively involved in infertility and IVF treatments. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Erdem’s academic interests include Assisted Reproductive Technologies (IVF, insemination), gynecological endocrinology (polycystic ovary syndrome, menopause, reproductive hormone disorders), endoscopic surgery, endometriosis, as well as multiple and high-risk pregnancies.
He has published numerous scientific studies on these subjects in prestigious international journals. He is a member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE), American Association of Gynecological Laparoscopy (AAGL), and domestically, the Turkish Society of Reproductive Medicine (TSRM). Prof. Dr. Ahmet Erdem is married and has two children.
